AdmiRail® is an intelligent platform concept for Train Traffic Control systems and automation systems of the future. With AdmiRail®, track infrastructure and energy resources can be used at their optimum levels. AdmiRail® achieves this by optimizing the allocation of secured headways, by rescheduling trains and by controlling the current speed of the trains. The flexible architecture presents intelligent proposals to the train dispatcher that allow him to decide how actual conflicts must be resolved. The new functionality thereby allows the optimization of the transport capacity and the overall minimization of delays. Consequently, rail customers can benefit from a highly stable and reliable transport service.
Given a timetable and the current situation on the tracks, Train Traffic Control Systems based on AdmiRail® are capable of
- computing the optimal order of trains,
- optimally adjusting the secured headways, and
- optimally guiding trains through the controlled area.
Such an optimisation for the Lötschberg Base Tunnel was shown on the German language Swiss Television station SF1 on March 18th 2010.
