Historical rail control centre in Kerzers

We were given a guided tour of this over hundred year old rail control centre on September 10th, 2009.

There are almost no mechanical railway control centres in use on the swiss railroad network anymore. They have been replaced by electronic ones, which are well known to us. We were therefore interested in how rail control was done in earlier times. Much was the same, but some things have fundamentally changed. The robustness of the heavy metal constructions was fascinating. The location of the control centre was also impressive; built at the intersection between the SBB-railroad Palézieux – Lyss and the BLS-railroad Bern – Neuenburg with a perfect view to the station tracks.

We would like to express our gratitude to have been able to experience this tour.
