Visit of Prof. He Huawu, Chief Engineer of the Ministry of Railway of the P. R. China.

It has been a great honor for systransis Ltd to be the host of Prof. He Huawu, the Chief Engineer of the Ministry of Railway of the P. R. China during his visit in Switzerland from Aug 29 to Aug 31, 2012. 

On Aug 29th, a business dinner was held in Luzern, the City of Lights in Switzerland. The guests included Prof. He Huawu, Mr. Zhao Zhangshan, Assistant Director of the China Academy of Railway Sciences, Prof. Dr. Peter Winter, Co-Inventor of ETCS, Dr. Stefan Karch, Director Innovation, SBB, Mrs. Michaela Stöckli, CEO, SwissRail and Prof. Dr. Anton Gunziger President, Supercomputing System, and Professor at ETH Zurich, together with the Chinese engineers of systransis.  Dr. Markus Montigel, CEO of systransis Ltd, appreciated the achievements of Chinese Railways in the recent years and emphasized the similar interests of China and Switzerland in the field of railways, and the importance of the future cooperation. The participants enjoyed the fruitful sharing of information between China and Switzerland, especially in the areas of intelligent railway control system and tunnel safety system. 

On Aug 30th, the SATW/CAETS symposium was held in Oerlikon, whose main topic was "urban development and public transportation". Prof. He gave a very impressive keynote presentation about "High-end intercity links in China", and Dr. Markus Montigel was invited as a Session Chair of this symposium.

On Aug 31st, systransis Ltd helped to arrange a visit to  the Gotthard Base Tunnel for Prof. He.  The group was meeting with the engineer Mr. Hans-Peter Vetsch from the Alptransit Gotthard AG, a subsidiary of SBB, responsible for the commissioning of the tunnel.  The tunnel safety design was firstly introduced in Erstfeld, the north portal of Gotthard Base Tunnel, followed by an on-site visit to Sedrum which is the multi-fucntion station inside the Gotthard Base Tunnel.

 

To sum up, this has been a memorable visits for both sides to exchange railway experience, bringing future prospects for further cooperation between systransis Ltd and the Swiss railway industry in general, and China Railways.
