Our apprenticeships
Supporting young computer scientists has a high priority with us. We therefore make ourselves active in this area by offering apprenticeships. In the summer 2010 our first apprentice completed his apprenticeship with great success. A new apprentice has started with us in the same year.
We try to involve our apprentices into our projects from their initial stages so that they experience the practical side of their profession, and not just the theoretical. In comparison to apprentices in larger companies, they are able to see, at an earlier stage, the relationships between different companies and how they depend to each other. Although most apprentices learn about the steps and phases of a project as part of their educational training, this is more difficult to experience in a large company, which is not the case with us.
Our apprenticeship is aptly named "Computer scientist, general orientation with focus on applications development".
As the name suggests, programming, which is closely linked to math and logic, has a central role in the apprenticeship. Due to the challenging nature of our apprenticeship program, we require our apprentices to have attended, or plan to attend the Berufsmittelschule (BMS).
Unfortunately we were not able to find an apprentice to start with us in 2011. We are confident that we will have better luck to find an apprentice for the summer of next year.
In case you are able and planning to join the Berufsmaturität (BMS), please send your application to Dr. Erwin Achermann.
